Take up Aquafit and get a full-body workout in an environment that is also easy on joints. These water-based aerobics classes combine cardio and strength training by incorporating force of motion with water resistance in an effective exercise routine that uses all muscle groups. Classes can take part in shallow or deep water

Aquafit Class Descriptions
Morning Energizer | A great way to start off your morning. This class is a strength and endurance building program with a mid-intensity cardio portion. This class targets stability, balance, flexibility, and co-ordination. Morning energizer is great for all ages whether you are wanting to start your morning off with a boost or improve your fitness abilities. Please note that due to warm temperatures there will be no high intensity cardio component in this class. |
Range of Motion | If you are new to fitness or experiencing disease or injury or looking to maintain your functional fitness this class is designed for you! By using shallow warm water this class will guide you through exercises that will benefit your lifestyle. No swimming ability is required. |
Cardio Pump | An intense cardio class that concludes with a stretch component. |
Deep | Join us for a full body class focusing on moderate to high cardiovascular intensity while also including a portion on resistance training. Must be comfortable in deep water. A fitness belt is provided for added buoyancy. |
Deep Cardio | Deep Cardio is a cardio based workout that focuses on traveling movements through deep water and incorporates a short resistance training component. A fitness belt is provided for class participants to ensure added buoyancy. |
Shallow | A self-paced cardio class in shallow water that concludes with strength and stretch components. |
Aqua Power | An intense cardio class with strength and stretch components. |
Aqualite | A low-impact cardio class that specifically targets balance, core strength, resistance training, and stretching. |
River Running | River Running is a great class if you are wanting to challenge your balance and strength using the resistance of the river. It is an excellent cardio and strength-building program for those wanting a quick boost to their day. In only thirty minutes you will receive a full body workout that is both effective and fast paced. |
Aqua Step | Step into a healthy lifestyle with a cardio based step class. Our instructor will lead you through an invigorating routine while improving endurance and coordination. Shoes are highly recommended. |
Step and Strength | Challenge yourself by adding strength components into your basic aqua step class. This is a fast moving circuit class. Shoes are highly recommended |
Aquatic Centre fitness room
The Aquatic Centre's fitness room is open during regular hours of operation and Aquatic Centre admission includes access. The fully equipped facility includes cardio machines, plate-loaded strength training equipment, and free weights. Cubbies are available for small bags. Make sure to store valuables in a locker.
Unaccompanied visitors must be at least 16 years old. Visitors 13-15 years of age must be supervised by an adult (19+ years).
Fitness room etiquette
Please be mindful and considerate of other visitors in the fitness room and observe the following rules of etiquette:
- Return free weights to the rack when finished and avoid dropping them on the floor.
- Gym attire is required: closed-toe indoor shoes, shirt, and shorts or pants.
- Food and glass containers are not allowed.
- Violence, foul language, and abusive behaviour are not permitted.
