FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Prince George, BC – The western portion of the Ferguson Lake Trail will be closed starting next week for rehabilitation work.
The trail closure will begin on March 3 and continue into the summer 2025. The remainder of the trail where construction is not taking place will stay open, but people will be unable to walk the complete loop until the work is complete.
The work will involve removing and replacing the old support posts and boardwalk, which will improve the safety of the trail system.
The Ferguson Lake Nature Reserve is owned by the Nature Trust of BC and managed by the City of Prince George.
The project is budgeted at $276,000 and will be funded primarily through Canada Community Building Fund grants ($220,000) and the remaining $56,000 will be from the General Infrastructure Reinvestment Fund.
The City asks residents to not trespass into the construction area and to pay attention to signage. The pink line in the image provided shows the extent of the construction area.
