Pets & Off-Leash Areas

Pet park regulations

Dogs must remain under the owner's control and supervision.
With the exception of designated off-leash park areas, all pets must be on a leash when in public.
Owners must carry a leash with them at all times.
Please use the pet waste stations.
Please observe pet etiquette rules and all other rules and regulations when visiting a park with pets.

Off-leash park areas

Location: 6877 Glenview Drive
Situated in the High Hartlands neighbourhood just off Dagg Road, Corporal Darren Fitzpatrick Bravery Park's fenced dog park lets pets run free with their owners and features:
- An on-leash and off-leash transition area.
- Two separate areas so larger and more energetic dogs and less active - or small or elderly - animals can safely play at their own pace.
- Pet waste bins.

Location: 747 Winnipeg Street
Visitors and their pets can play freely within a large, fully fenced area or along the perimeter ring trail at Duchess Park. Features include:
- Pet wastes bins.
- Ample bench seating and a dog water fountain.
- A separate fenced area for small or elderly dogs.
- A double-gated entryway that makes it easy to leash or unleash pets.

Location: 4750 1st Avenue
Moore's Meadow Nature Park features a large open meadow where pets can run free. Please note pets must be leashed while on the park's trails and remember to follow the rules on signs posted throughout the park.

LOCATION: 4190 Massey Drive
Pets may be off-leash within the meadow and on-leash along the perimeter trail. A number of trails tie into Ginter's Meadow, including the UNBC Connector Trail System.

Nearly a hectare (two acres) of green space on 17th Avenue between Connaught Hill Park and Lheidli T'enneh Memorial Park, Ingledew Park features the following amenities:
- Fully-fenced open space with multiple gated entrances.
- Shaded areas for pets and pet owners to shelter in on hot days.
- Benches and picnic tables.
- Pet waste disposal bags and bins.

Located next to the Southridge Park skating rink, the off-leash area is fully fenced to allow your pups to roam freely and play with other dogs. Features include:
- Fully fenced space with a double-gated entryway that makes it easy to leash or unleash pets.
- Seating for pet owners.
- Pet waste disposal bags and bins.
- Engineered wood fiber chip surface specifically made for dog parks. The non-toxic wood bark chips help to reduce mud puddles, craters, dust, and dirt. Wood chips are the most common type of surfacing found in dog parks today as it doesn't wear and degrade like grass and turf and won't get hot like sand and gravel.

Located next to Van Bien Elementary School, the off-leash area at Perry Park is fully fenced to allow your pups to roam freely and play with other dogs. Features include:
- Fully fenced space with a double-gated entryway that makes it easy to leash or unleash pets.
- Seating for pet owners.
- Pet waste disposal bags and bins.

Pet etiquette

Make sure dogs are wearing current license tags.
Check with a veterinarian to ensure pet vaccinations are up-to-date.
Always bring a plastic bag along when walking dogs, even for short trips around the neighbourhood. All off-leash parks are also equipped with at least one pet waste station with a dog bag dispenser and garbage can.
Do not throw bags containing pet waste into wooded areas or off the side of trails.
Do not let dogs jump on people.
Owners must ensure pets are in their control at all times and within the boundaries of designated off-leash park areas.
Pet leashes must be attached before entering and upon leaving designated off-leash areas.
Review and obey all park rules and relevant parking requirements.

A maximum of two dogs per person is allowed in designated off-leash parks. Owners are personally liable for any damages or injury inflicted by their dogs.
