Active Seniors! Active Communities! Programs
Community Associations, in partnership with the City of Prince George's Social Planning division, offer age-friendly activities for adults 40+. Some programs may require (pre-)registration. Contact the Community Association organising the program or event for help and additional information.
Try It! 40+ Programs
Sport Discovery Try It! 40+ programs provide easy ways to try a new sport or physical activity. Sessions run from 60 to 90 minutes and are led by qualified and experienced staff.
These programs are free and participants do not have to live in the Community Association area where an event is hosted. Some programs may require pre-registration.
Golden Age Socials
Attend a Golden Age Social at the Prince George Conference and Civic Centre and meet up with old friends or make new ones. Held one afternoon each month from October to March, Golden Age Socials give Prince George seniors a chance to dine, enjoy live entertainment, and socialise during the cold winter months. The program is held by the Prince George Council of Seniors in partnership with the City of Prince George and the Prince George Conference and Civic Centre.
Recreation Centres and Active Living
Join one of the many Senior Activity and Recreation Centres in Prince George and get involved in carpet and lawn bowling, drama club, canasta, Tai Chi, and more.

Many local Community Associations offer seniors programming as well.
ActNow BC Seniors' Community Park
The ActNow BC Seniors' Community Park is an outdoor fitness facility located between the Prince George Secondary School field and Masich Place Stadium (beside the parking lot) that features free, safe, and easy-to-use exercise equipment. Seniors may complete an exercise circuit at their own pace or take advantage of personal instruction by the local YMCA (when available) on how to use the equipment.

Swimming is a relaxing, low-impact form of exercise that won't cause excess strain on joints and can be enjoyed at any age. Incorporating swimming into an active lifestyle can improve:
- Muscle strength and tone.
- Stamina and endurance.
- Cardiovascular health.
- Flexibility and mobility.
A variety of aquafit classes of differing intensity levels are also available at both the Four Seasons Leisure Pool and the Prince George Aquatic Centre for seniors looking for a more structured routine.
People in Motion Walking Program
Daily walking strengthens bones, can reduce the risk of heart disease, and relieves stress and tension. The People in Motion program at the CN Centre and Rolling Mix Concrete Arena is a free way to stay active from September to April every year and keep moving during the winter.
Prince George Council of Seniors
The Prince George Council of Seniors (PGCOS) is an umbrella organization of 12 organisations servicing Prince George's senior residents and working to support and enhance quality of life for all seniors in the city.
Some of the programs offered by the PGCOS include:

- Health promotion workshops
- Housing information
- Meals on Wheels

- Healthy Eating for Seniors
- Safety in the Home
- Preventing Elder Abuse and Neglect
