From time to time, members of the public contact the City to request formal acknowledgement for a local initiative, cause, occasion, person, or activity of significance.
Most often these requests involve the following:
Proclamation
Proclamations are ceremonial documents issued and signed by the Mayor to recognise the value and importance of a person, event, campaign, or organisation for a certain day, week, or month.
Flag-Raising Ceremony
Flag-raising ceremonies enhance public awareness of activities such as national days, multi-cultural events, and fundraising drives. They encourage support from members of the public and benefit and enrich the community. Requests must be made at least three weeks in advance.
Invite the Mayor to an Event
The mayor regularly attends events, openings, celebrations, and ceremonies throughout the City of Prince George.
All invitations will be reviewed by staff in the Mayor's office, who will contact the requesting party if further information is required. Please note that, due to an extremely full schedule, the Mayor is not able to accept every invitation. First consideration will be given to requests that are received two months in advance of the event date.
Request a School Tour of City Hall
Help students gain a better understanding of how local government works. Participants will be taken on a walking tour of City Hall and have opportunities to visit Council Chambers for an assembly, meet the Mayor, ask questions, view short presentations, and more.
