Seasonal Jobs
Seasonal workers support the Public Works Division in areas such as Parks, Roads Operations, and Utility Maintenance. All seasonal employees are eligible for the municipal pension and benefits. Seasonal positions are posted in February for summer positions and in September for winter positions.
Truck Drivers
- Minimum Grade 12 education.
- Unrestricted Class 3 driver's licence with air brake endorsement.
- One year of experience.
- Driver's abstract showing a safe driving record.
Equipment Operators
- Minimum Grade 12 education.
- Unrestricted Class 3 driver's licence with air brake endorsement.
- One year of experience operating equipment safely.
Labourers
- Completion of Grade 10 or GED.
- Unrestricted Class 5 driver's licence and a safe driving record.
- Previous general labouring experience.
- Temporary summer jobs are also available (ideal for students).
Parks Workers
- Minimum Grade 12 education.
- Three years of experience with turf construction and repair.
Concrete Finishers
- Minimum Grade 12 education.
- Three years of experience in concrete finishing work.
Trades Assistants
- Minimum Grade 12 education.
- Two years of experience in fundamental carpentry or concrete practises.
Irrigation Technicians
- Minimum Grade 12 education.
- Completion of a course related to the trade from an accredited post-secondary institution.
- Three years of experience.
Part-time Jobs
Part-time employees are vital to the City and positions offer flexibility and variety. Jobs range from providing help during concerts and hockey games to ensuring facilities are clean and well-maintained.

Summer and Co-op Student Jobs
Summer positions are posted in February and work begins in April or May, depending on the weather. Applicants will need a Class 5 driver's licence and previous labouring experience.
The City of Prince George also offers co-op student positions in areas like civil engineering and information and systems technology.
Administrative Casual Pool
Applicants looking for flexibility and variety may apply for Office Assistant - Casual Pool positions. Casual workers may be found in many City departments and facilities and provide support for employees on leave, project work, or general assistance. Casual assignments can range from a few days to a few weeks or more and may be part-time or full-time. Assignment schedules can be a few days or five (5) days a week.
The City also provides administrative support to the RCMP detachment where casuals work in shifts, including 12-hour and night shifts. Casual workers support RCMP sections and offer customer service to the public. These postings require RCMP Reliability Status.
Temporary (Term) Positions
The City may post temporary (or "term") positions to support staff members on leave. These jobs are usually full-time hours and for a set period. Review actual job postings for full details. Temporary positions are posted when assistance with projects or initiatives is needed. Employees in positions lasting six months or more are eligible for benefits.
