Remember when you were a kid? Playing outside with your friends for hours, until you got the call to come in for dinner? Today, our children don’t play like we used to. The playgrounds, schoolyards and parks aren’t as busy as they once were, but what has changed?
60 minutes of active play each day is not only fun, it’s a vital part of healthy childhood development. Play allows our kids to try new things, test boundaries and use their imaginations in a safe and engaging environment. In addition to the physical benefits, play is essential to cognitive, emotional and social development throughout early childhood.
The City of Prince George supports getting our kids active and bringing back play! Get the kids and go for a walk along our River Trail System, take a picnic to Duchess Park and play on the slide and ropes, throw a frisbee in Rainbow park - whatever you do, get outside and get active!
